Magnus
An Advanced Space Mission Analysis Suite
MAGNUS is an innovative software suite designed to help emerging New Space Actors. Developed initially as an internal project, MAGNUS has evolved into a comprehensive toolset for evaluating and optimizing satellite missions, catering to the growing needs of the NEWSPACE market.
Key features
Orbital Propagation
MAGNUS offers advanced orbital propagation capabilities using the J2 model, allowing accurate prediction of satellite movements. The software includes:
- Keplerian Parameters: Basic orbital elements for trajectory calculations.
- RAAN and Argument of Periapsis Drift: Analyze how these elements change over time.
- Future Enhancements: Incorporating atmospheric and lunar perturbations for greater precision.
Constellation Creation
The suite facilitates the creation of satellite constellations with customizable parameters:
- Input Parameters: Includes Keplerian parameters, plane numbers, and custom gaps or revisit times.
- Output: Generates optimized constellation configurations to maximize coverage and efficiency and allows optimisation of ground track regarding to the ground station network in order to analyse satelite latency.
Visit and Latency Studies
MAGNUS provides tools to study satellite visits and communication latency:
- Visit Studies: Analyze specific areas or global coverage to ensure optimal satellite positioning.
- Latency Analysis: Evaluate access times and information age, crucial for time-sensitive operations.
Visualization Capabilities
Integrate with Google Earth for detailed visualization:
- 4D Trajectories and Animations: View satellite paths in real-time in GIS environment (Google Earth data accessible for customers) .
- Map Overlays: Display solar angles, digital elevation, and population data for comprehensive analysis.
Applications
Accomplishment
- Mission Planning: From early CAD designs to detailed mission analysis.
- Constellation Optimization: Assess and refine satellite networks for maximum performance.
- Space Debris Tracking: Model and predict the impact of space debris on missions.
Future developpement
- SGP4 Propagation Model: For more accurate orbit prediction.
- Expanded Visualization: Additional data exports and interface improvements.
